Study shows economic impact of shopping locally

The annual Buy Nearby economic study by the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) and Public Sector Consultants (PSC) reveals that shifting 10% of consumer spending to local retailers could boost Michigan’s economy by $1.5 billion, create 15,367 jobs, and increase labor income by $690 million.

The Buy Nearby campaign, initiated in 2013, encourages Michiganders to shop locally to support economic growth and community well-being. This year’s Buy Nearby Weekend, featuring special events and a Golden Ticket contest, will take place from October 4-6.
