SBAM’s Small Biz PAC Endorses Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Judge Brock Swartzle for Michigan Supreme Court
September 29, 2020
With more and more policy decisions being made in the court system, the Small Business Association of Michigan’s Small Biz PAC has for the first time decided to endorse candidates for Michigan’s Supreme Court.
The Small Biz PAC’s candidate endorsement process for the Supreme Court consists of a rigorous interview process with a panel of small business owners from around the state.
“Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Judge Brock Swartzle were chosen due to their strong track record of maintaining both a fair and predictable legal environment for small businesses to navigate here in Michigan. As they have in the past, these two candidates have demonstrated that they have and will continue to be both responsive and accessible to small business owners from all over Michigan,” said SBAM president, Brian Calley.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack joined the Michigan Supreme Court in January 2013 and became Chief Justice in January 2019. Before her election to the Court in November 2012, she was a law professor and dean at the University of Michigan Law School.
Brock Swartzle is a judge of the Michigan 4th District Court of Appeals. Prior to his appointment to the appeals court, Swartzle served as general counsel and chief of staff for the Speaker in the Michigan House of Representatives.
