On December 11, 2012, Governor Richard Snyder signed into law Michigan’s Right-to-Work Law. This law prohibits both private and public sector employers from discharging an employee who refuses to join a union or pay union dues. The law becomes effective on March 28, 2013. In reaction to the passage of the law, many unions have approached employers seeking to extend existing collective bargaining agreements to preserve the right to require union membership and dues. In addition, many employees are asking what the law means.
This webinar will discuss the impact of the Right-to-Work law on employers as well as its affect on management-union relationships. It will provide practical guidance on how employers should handle the many questions raised by the Right-to-Work law.
