Flexible and Affordable Coverage
The life and disability insurance through SBAM offers competitive rates with flexible coverage options.
- All products are available to sole proprietors and groups with 1 to 99 eligible employees.
- Groups are not asked to provide SIC codes.
- Basic life, short-term disability and long-term disability can be written on a standalone basis.
- Definition of eligible full-time employment can be as high as 40 hours per week or as low as 20 hours per week.
Advanced Life Insurance Payment
DearbornCares provides an advance benefit payment to help beneficiaries cover their immediate expenses, such as funeral costs and medical bills*.
- Pays up to a total of $100,000 of employer-paid basic life insurance benefits.
- Applies to claims with one, two or three named beneficiaries.
- Available for covered employees and retirees.
- No death certificate required.
- Payment check will be mailed within 48 hours of eligibility confirmation.
Helps employees and their families when they are traveling more than 100 miles from their place of residence. It provides the protection they need when circumstances result in the need for medical care away from home**.
- Referral to a local qualified doctor through a network of providers.
- Evacuation to the closest adequate medical facility.
- Repatriation from a place of hospitalization to the insured’s home.
- Return of a travel companion and/or dependent children of the insured to their home.
- Pre-trip information including inoculation requirements and travel advisories.
Beneficiary Resource Services
Combines grief, legal, and financial counseling to support beneficiaries or to the insured who qualifies for an accelerated benefit during their time of loss***.
- Manage legal or financial issues that can result after the loss of a loved one.
- Receive information on pre-planning or planning a funeral.
- Create, modify and store a last will and testament online.
- Unlimited phone access to grief, legal and financial counselors for up to one year.
- Up to five face-to-face working sessions, or equivalent professional time, are available to the insured or beneficiary.
