The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) honored Sen. Jim Stamas (R-Midland) with ‘Legislator of the Year’ honors at its annual meeting June 15, 2017 in Lansing. Due to the Senate session schedule, the award was presented to him by SBAM Immediate Past Chair Kathie Fuce-Hobohm in Midland today.
Sen. Stamas has worked tirelessly for the small business community. As a State Representative, he was lead sponsor on critical unemployment reforms; as House Majority Floor Leader Stamas helped shepherd significant tax relief for small businesses along with important workers’ compensation changes. Additionally, Sen. Stamas is a small business owner, providing him with a unique perspective.
During his legislative career, Sen. Stamas’ voting record with the Small Business Association of Michigan is 96 percent, making him a true advocate for the small business community.
