Online contest to find the oldest piece of equipment on which a small business is still paying Personal Property Tax
June 27, 2014
Michigan small businesses don’t just pay sales tax when they purchase a piece of equipment. You pay tax again and again on that piece of equipment every year you own it. The tax never goes away, no matter how old the equipment is. Voting “YES” on Proposal 1 would ensure Michigan’s small businesses don’t have to face the antiquated, unfair Personal Property Tax anymore.
That’s why Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities launched an online contest to find the oldest business equipment still being taxed. Your submissions will help underscore what an unfair, burdensome tax this is for Michigan’s small businesses – and why it’s so important to vote “YES” on Proposal 1 this August 5.

You’ll be entered into our online contest for a chance to win a free membership for one year to the Small Business Association of Michigan and two tickets to any Michigan Manufacturers Association event of your choice.
Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities will pick winners at random each week through July 10. From July 10-16 website visitors can vote for their favorite piece of taxed business equipment from the previously selected winners. The overall winner will be announced July 16.
