Michigan’s chief negotiator on MEGA tax credit talks says there’s been a slow down in talks
June 30, 2015
Ford Motor Co. was the first company to announce new terms with the state to rein in the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) tax credits it was awarded. Steve Arwood, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC), said this week, “we’re still actively talking” to various companies.
“We’ve had a little bit of a slowdown. Part of it has to do with just a lot of other things going on, but I’m pretty confident that we’ll get through this, this summer,” said Arwood, who also chairs the Michigan Strategic Fund board.
He has previously said the state is in talks with about a half dozen companies, but Arwood has declined to name specific businesses.
