On Monday, May 18, Governor Whitmer announced that bars and restaurants in the Upper Peninsula and Northernmost regions of the Lower Peninsula will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity starting Friday, May 22. This change is focused on the Governor’s “MI Safe Start Plan” that looks to phase in Michigan’s economy by industry and location based off of 8 Regions broken up by risk.
Earlier today Governor Whitmer signed executive order 2020-96 which reopens retail businesses and auto dealerships by appointment statewide on Tuesday, May 26. This executive order also lifted the requirement that health care providers delay some nonessential medical, dental, and veterinary procedures statewide beginning on Friday, May 29.
Also new? The authorization of small gatherings of 10 people or less starting immediately, as long as participants practice social distancing.
